Lokki means seagull. Marimekko tell how the idea came to Maija Isola while she was looking at a curtained window on a sunny day — the wide folds formed wavy shadows on the fabric. The rug has four broad rows of those waves.
In Butter the waves are soft yellow against cream and sand, gentle and sunny rather than bold.
