Bower is Morris at his most architectural — climbing stems trained into arches, with leaves and blossom filling the spaces between. The structure comes from the medieval tapestries he studied, where foliage was used to frame rather than simply fill.

Twining Vine Green keeps it in the greens Morris favoured, so the design reads as growth rather than decoration.
