Morris & Co Lent Lily Plum Bayleaf 130901

Lent Lily comes from Morris & Co.'s collaboration with The Huntington in California, and is based on a rarely seen watercolour design from the Huntington archive. The rug keeps the hand-drawn movement of the original sketch: tall, pointed plum tulips rise through sweeping grey-green acanthus leaves, with small wild daffodils scattered between them.

Plum and Bayleaf sets the flowers against a soft cream ground, so the drawing reads clearly and the rug feels lighter than most Morris designs.
