The warm reading of Montreal, in russet — the red-brown of autumn bracken, and a colour Morris returned to repeatedly once he had worked out how to get it from madder rather than synthetic dye.

Hand-knotted as a flatweave rather than a pile rug, which gives the pattern unusual definition for a hand-made piece. At roughly 7 mm it sits low, clears doors, and takes dining chairs without crushing.
